Something About treatment for Acne-Isotretinoin (Accutane)?

What do you guys think about this pill? is it appropriate to treat acne with a drug that can kill an unborn infant if the patient get pregnant?Something About treatment for Acne-Isotretinoin (Accutane)?
I work at a derm office and I do know that they only prescribe Accutane to people with very severe acne and only after they have tried everything else and it has failed. It is really left up to the patient to make the decision to use Accutane after they consider the side effects involved with it. I will say that most patients absolutely want to use the drug despite the warnings, as their acne is so incredibly bad and also the fact that nothing else is working to control it. It doesn't seem like an appropriate drug, and I suppose that is why it is regulated so very carefully and monitored by the doctors so closely. I agree, it is worrisome that it can cause birth defects the way it does, however, if you had a chronic skin condition such as severe acne that was ruining your life, you would probably consider taking the drug if there was the possibility of clearing it up and having a better quality of life. Actually, aside from Accutane, there are dozens of other drugs out there with just as bad sounding side effects too. Each individual has to decide if it is worth it to them.Something About treatment for Acne-Isotretinoin (Accutane)?
it's appropriate, just don't get pregnant. i don't see how it is so hard not to get pregnant for 6 months.
