Doxycycline for the treatment of acne?

My dermatologist has prescribed me doxycyline for over a year now dating back from last July.

Just wondering whether this medicine is allowed to be taken so long? And could it have any damage on liver since I been taking it over a year now?

Should i keep taking doxycyline or stop it now, because 1 year on this medicine is a long time and im scared it might be damaging my body internally later on in life.

Taking an antibiotic for such a long time will make your body become more resistant to them, most likely. Just imagine, if you quit it for a month, and then went back on it. Your skin may never be the same way it was when you were on doxycycline. When you need it badly (like having a painful UTI or something), your body may not respond well. Talk to your dermatologist about this, and slowly wean yourself off of it if possible. You could try for Accutane (isotretinoin).Doxycycline for the treatment of acne?
Yup, sounds like you need to contact your doctor about this - I'm sure you can call her and leave a message.
